Build a Wind Turbine for Clean Energy

Power plants emit all kinds of pollution and radiation. They are destructive to the environment that we call home: Earth. You can do something about it with renewable energy from the wind itself when you build a wind turbine. Reduce or eliminate your electric bill and start improving the future of the environment by switching to clean energy.

How Does the Wind Turbine Produce Electricity?

A wind turbine is a set of three broad blades that rotate when the wind blows through them. This spins a magnetic generator, which produces electricity. The turbine is set atop a tall tower to reach the higher wind speeds found at greater elevations. When the wind is blowing faster, more energy is produced than when the wind is slower. The resulting electricity powers your home. Build a wind turbine and see what it can do.

Differences in Wind Turbines

There are small wind turbines that you can build from kits. These don’t produce as much electricity as full-size turbines. The higher the wind turbine is from the ground, the more energy it yields. Small turbines are placed on the roof for this reason. If you have the space, you can build a wind turbine that is much taller, ideally 60-100 feet tall. You will need some experienced help, but these turbines reach up to the higher wind speeds and produce more electricity. With spacious land, you should try to build one that is 100 feet tall for the best results.

What If It Produces Too Much Electricity?

The taller wind turbines can make excess electrical power, which is stored in a battery array for use when the wind speeds are slower. When this is connected to the local power grid, the extra electricity can be sold to the power company and shared with neighbors.
